Spotting SEO Scammers

Hey everybody, it’s Scott Top Ranked Roofer.com And I’ve got some new information for you. Let’s talk for a minute about how you can spot an SEO Scammer before they steal your wallet. Oh my gosh, this stuff is happening so much everywhere. Almost every day I hear about it and frankly, I’m really tired of it. What I’m talking about is all of these people that call you on the phone that sends you emails and promise you the moon and the stars and tell you it’s doesn’t cost any money or it’s doesn’t cost much money. And frankly they don’t have the experience and they don’t have the results to prove to you, but if you don’t know that you might just buy anyway and find out later.

I came across a client about two and a half years ago, I think it is. We’ve been helping her now for, 2 1/2 years now — they’re commercial roofers in the Northeast. I won’t tell you much about them because frankly, it’s a little embarrassing. The scenario that I found them was that they had hired somebody who claimed to be helping them. And at the end of the day, what was really going on was a fraud. They were stealing the money. They were doing none of the work. They were billing this client thousands of dollars a month for paper click ads that were not running, and they were claiming to be doing SEO work for thousands more that they didn’t do either.

So here’s how you could spot this if you were looking for it in your own business. If you’ve hired somebody, you want to, first of all, make sure that they give you complete and total access to your Google account. You need to be able to see all the activity in your ads. You need to be able to see the Google Analytics. You need to definitely be able to see the Google Console because that’s where all of the updates are going to start to reflect themselves.

Another thing that you want to be really mindful of is the kinds of things that some of these people will tell you when they call or when they email you. If they’re promising something that is ridiculously cheap, they can’t do much for that. It doesn’t matter where on earth that they’re planning to work. They can’t do much for a little bit of money, and I’m talking about these people that are advertising $100, $200, $500. It’s very, very difficult to do professional services work for a little bit of money and it doesn’t make sense for a guy who, who has an average sale of $8,000 to $15,000 or $20,000.

I would caution you if they are talking to you about things like fonts and colors instead of things like what is this page about and what is the visitor supposed to do when they get there? We focus on traffic, conversion of that traffic and about the cost of getting those customers onboard.

What does that cost? That’s what really matters. So those are some really great ways that you can sort out when somebody’s talking to you about the services that they provide; if they talk about old school, if they’re talking about link building, if they’re talking about social media, you should run.

What you want is somebody that knows about pages, about content, about getting visitors to your site, and about converting them at a cost per lead that is profitable to you. If you’ve got any questions or if I could be of service — if I can help you in any way. My name is Scott Dennison. I’m Top Ranked Roofer.com.
