How to Generate Internet Leads for Roofing Contractors

May 24, 2017 By Scott A. Dennison

Whether you’re new to the business or struggling to find your footing, you probably know by now that Internet leads are a key to growing your roofing business.

But how do you take your very real-world business and translate it to the Internet?

People are looking to the Internet more and more for the services they need, so the good news is, your contracting business will fit right in! We’ve also got some key tips to help you get the leads you need to flourish.

Know your Audience

Internet marketing is kind of a strange beast. Whereas in the past, advertisers could base decisions on different things, gaining Internet leads requires you to make decisions based on your audience.

These are your clients, your customers, the people who are going to be looking to purchase your services.

It’s possible, through Internet research and data, to determine exactly who’s responding to your content. However, if you’re just getting into the game, you don’t have that data yet.

The best thing to do in this scenario is to figure out what your target demographic is. From there, you can tailor your content to what they’d be most likely to respond to.

SEO

What do you think of when you think of SEO, or search engine optimization? It probably sounds a little bit mind-boggling, right?

The good news is, it’s a lot less complicated than it sounds. SEO refers to a set of criteria that Google and other search engines use in order to rank search engine results. This means more traffic for you, which means more Internet leads.

There are tons of strategies to use to take advantage of SEO and boost your rankings. It’s up to you to choose the right strategy for your roofing business.

Blogging

A great way to engage with your audience and give yourself an air of expertise in your field is to start a blog!

It might sound counterproductive. You’re here to start a business, not run a blog or teach people how to do things themselves!

However, your audience is more likely to trust you if you appear to be an authority in your field. This is your profession, so why not show off what you know?

One of the biggest factors in SEO is original content, and blogging is an awesome way to take advantage of that. This can lead to higher rankings and more Internet leads.

Make yourself Available

It sounds obvious, but how many websites have you come across that don’t have local information easily accessible?

Local information is exactly what it sounds like: your name, your location, and your phone number.

This needs to be easily displayed, along with an email option.

A great way to do this is to create a contact page, complete with a form that will instantly email you when somebody submits an inquiry. This means you can track your Internet leads until they become sales.

Social Media

Social media is one of the key ways to grab some leads and convert them!

This one works similarly to blogging. The main differences lie in the content and the fact that your social media is a separate entity from your website.

It may seem silly for a roofing contractor to be active on social media, but think about it: so is your audience. Don’t you want a way to form genuine connections with your audience?

This gives you the chance to connect and chat with them in real-time, which can be invaluable in finding customers and building relationships which last.

Email

It may seem like email marketing is going the way of the dinosaurs, but it’s still a powerful marketing tool that can be used to secure your leads!

This works best if you use it similarly to your contact page, mentioned earlier in this post. If you use a landing page to grab customers’ email addresses (it usually works best if you offer them an incentive, such as a discount or a free consultation), you’ll automatically have their email.

That means you can send them information regarding promotions, and even new content! If you’re always at the forefront of their mind, you’ll be able to convert them in no time.

Referrals

Don’t underestimate the power of referrals when it comes to converting leads to sales.

If you don’t have many sales yet, getting referrals may seem daunting. However, you can use the content on your website and social media to your advantage!

Your goal in Internet marketing is to become prolific enough that people start recommending you to their friends and family because they trust you.

Reviews can help, but this actually refers to referral traffic from other people linking to your content. Think of it as word of mouth for the Internet!

Influencers

A great way to get Internet leads in this day and age is to use a social influencer!

Think of an influencer like a celebrity endorsement. This can be someone who’s well-known and trusted in your field, or it can be someone in your community. However, for the ultimate seal of approval, they need to be relevant to what you’re trying to sell.

Influencers have the benefit of already having the public’s trust, so when they endorse you, it’s like they’re vouching for you. They’ll also likely see more traffic than you, especially when you’re first starting out, so those are more eyes that your business is getting.

Get Internet Leads like the Pros

Once you know how to make it work in your favor, figuring out the murky waters of Internet marketing isn’t so difficult!

There are many different tactics you can use to tackle Internet marketing head on but to get the leads you crave, you’ll definitely want to make sure your website is in tip-top shape.

Additionally, it may be time to use handy email technology to help spread the word. If you have social media, things will only be easier from here.
